We’re proud to celebrate the success of our member, Fotenix, a University of Manchester spinout driving innovation in agriculture. Fotenix has secured significant investment from River Capital’s Fund:AI to accelerate its mission of empowering farmers with smarter, sustainable solutions.
At the heart of Fotenix’s groundbreaking approach is its spectral imaging technology, paired with AI-powered insights. This advanced system enables farmers to detect early signs of crop stress, such as pests and diseases, allowing for targeted action before issues escalate. For horticultural growers, this means reducing crop losses, optimising resources, and consistently meeting market quality demands.
“Farmers are at the core of everything we do,” said Charles Veys, CEO of Fotenix. “This investment enables us to bring practical, accessible solutions to their operations—helping them maximise yields, cut waste, and farm more sustainably.”
Fotenix’s technology not only reduces reliance on chemical inputs like fertilisers and pesticides but also helps farmers improve water and energy efficiency, which is critical in addressing resource scarcity. This funding will support Fotenix in expanding its team, scaling operations, and reaching more farmers, particularly in high-value horticultural markets, including the glasshouse sector.
With this transformative investment, Fotenix continues its commitment to empowering growers to protect profits while promoting a more sustainable and competitive agricultural future.
